Classic No Bake Cookies

Chocolate or Peanut Butter

While a certain someone is on summer vacation, we are in the kitchen making goodies... it's one of our favorite pass time.  It is so hot right now here in SoCal... right around 95-105 degrees all week!

So.... Lets give the oven a break! We decided to whip up a batch of these simple classic favorites... They're so addictive!

  • 1/2 cup butter  (1 stick)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 - 3 1/2 cups quick cooking oats

  • (choose one or both)
  • **4 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • **1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 2 teaspoon vanilla - optional

If you want chocolate cookies, just add cocoa powder.
If you want peanut butter cookies, just add peanut butter.
Or if you want both cocoa and peanut butter..... these are the best and the way
I make them.... almost every time!
The process of teaching, we measured every item out.

In large saucepan, combine sugar, butter, margarine, milk and **cocoa powder.
Bring to rolling boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Continue boiling 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat, stir in **peanut butter, vanilla and oats.
Drop by cookie scoop or tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper.
Makes about 3 dozen. Let stand until firm, 10-15 minutes. Store tightly covered.

Optional : Vanilla

Now this part Nana did keeping little miss away from the flame.

Now we add peanut butter, vanilla, and oats.

Now stir until throughly mixed.

Now for some fun.....

She says, My masterpiece!

The reward ...

Enjoying... the fruit of our labors!

Deep thinking (???).
